Producer FC Mehra passes away

MUMBAI: Producer of films like 'Professor', and extremely popular tele series 'Office Office', F C Mehra has passed away. He was 85. The funeral took place at the Shivaji Park crematorium on Wednesday, his son and filmmaker Umesh said.
The noted film producer died of a massive heart attack late on Tuesday night. He is survived by four sons including directors Umesh and Rajiv Mehra and a daughter. Fakir Chand Mehra was a heart patient and was admitted to a private hospital six weeks ago. Mehra died in his sleep.
His banner - Eagle films produced movies like 'Professor', 'Lal Patthar', 'Amrapali', 'Raam Jaane', 'Sohni Mahiwal', 'Qila', 'Mujrim', 'Chamatkar' among others. He also produced successful television serials like 'Zabaan Sambhal Ke', 'Mamaji', 'Ek Do Teen Char, 'Office Office', 'Nok Jhok', 'Khatta Meetha', 'Kissa Kursi Ka'.
Mehra established Eagle films in 1954 and made films like 'Singapore' (1959) which is the first Indian film to be shot in Singapore and Malaysia, 'Ujala' (the awakening). 'Amrapali' was the Oscar entry from India. In 1976, he launched an Indo-Soviet co-production "Ali Baba and 40 thieves" with the biggest stars of Indian and Soviet cinema. The movie was directed by son his Umesh.
Apart from film production, he also branched out to all major areas of the entertainment industry like exhibition, distribution and television content production.

Bollywood lost one of its veteran producers, F.C. Mehra, who passed away on Tuesday. Mehra, who has given us some popular films (under his company Eagle Films) like Professor, Mujrim, Sohni Mahiwal, Qila, Chamatkar, Ram Jaane and Aashiq Aawara died of a cardiac failure at a Mumbai hospital. He was 80 years old.
F.C. Mehra was also the proud owner of one of Mumbai's oldest cinema halls- Minerva and also the Plaza cinema hall in Delhi. In his illustrious career, he has also produced television serials like Zabaan Sambhal Ke, Mamaji, Office Office and Khatta Meetha. He is survived by his 4 sons (which include filmmakers Umesh Mehra, Parvesh Mehra and Rajiv Mehra) and a daughter.
Bollywood Hungama mourns the loss of this veteran producer. May his soul rest in peace.
