Vivek Razdan was a right-arm fast-medium bowler who played 2 Tests and 3 ODIs for India. Razdan made his Test debut against Pakistan in the same series as Sachin Tendulkar. In fact, both Razdan and Sachin made their ODI debut together against Pakistan at Gujranwala. Sachin went on to become one of the greatest batsmen in cricket, but Razdan on the other hand, waned away quickly.

Razdan, who honed his skills at the MRF Pace Foundation, was selected to represent India in Pakistan only on the basis of two first-class matches. He made his debut against Pakistan at Faisalabad. Questions were asked about his selection after he remained wicketless in the only innings India had a bowl. Following this poor performance, he was dropped from the third Test. However, he made a brilliant comeback in the last Test of the series, utilizing the assistance available from the pitch. He ended up picking 5/79 to give India a 74-run lead, but this 5-wicket haul also marked the last we saw of Razdan in Tests. Even though he was a part of the squad that next went to New Zealand, he didn't get to play any more Tests.

His performance in the ODIs was not that great either. In the 3 ODIs (2 against Pak and 1 against SL) he played, he could only manage a single wicket. Since he was training at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai, he represented Tamil Nadu during the 1990-91 Ranji season.

He returned to Delhi (his birthplace) in the subsequent Ranji season (1991-92) and played a major role in their title win. He smashed two hundreds for Delhi on their way to the final. In the final, he played a crucial knock of 93 against his former team, Tamil Nadu, which paved the way for Delhi's triumph. He was very effective with the ball as well, taking 23 wickets that season.

Two seasons later, he decided to give up first-class cricket following some below par performances. Since then, he has been doing television commentary.
