Biography
Malaika Arora Khan is an Indian Actress born on 23 October 1973 in Mumbai, Maharashtra.


Malaika was born as Malaika Arora to a Punjabi father and a Malayali Catholic mother. She had completed her secondary education from Swami Vivekanand School in Chembur, Mumbai. 

Malaika is married to Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan. They have a son, Arhaan. 

Career


Malaika was a VJ in MTV India, when MTV India started its operations in India. She became the most prominent non-movie, non-model female in urban India. She and Cyrus Broacha did some anchoring in some programs like Love Line and Style Check at award ceremonies and concerts on the television channel.


Then she entered into modeling and appeared in many ads as well as cameos for bollywood film songs. She did some hit songs like Chaiyya Chaiyya from the film Dil Se, Kaal Dhamaal from the film Kaal, title song from Heyy Babyy, title song from film Om Shanti Om. 

In year 2010 she did a superhit item song Munni Badnaam in the film Dabangg, which was produced by her husband Arbaaz Khan.

She was also seen in some TV serials. She was seen as a judge in serial Nach Baliye. Then again she came as a judge in the next season of Nach Baliye. Then she appeared in serial Zara Nachke Dikha as a judge again. And then Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa with Madhuri Dixit and Remo D'Souza.

Malaika Arora Khan, known as Malaika Arora before her marriage, is an Indian actress, dancer, model, VJ, and television presenter.[2] She is one of the top item girls of India. She is most famous for her dancing in the songs "Chaiyya Chaiyya" (1998) and "Munni Badnaam Hui" (2010). She turned film producer in 2008, with her husband, Arbaaz Khan. Their company Arbaaz Khan Productions has released films like Dabangg (2010) and Dabangg 2 (2012).[3]

Early life and background

Malaika Arora Khan was born in ChemburMumbai, Maharashtra. Her parents divorced when she was 11 years old and the family shifted to Chembur. Her mother, Joyce Polycarp, is a Malayali Catholic and her father, Anil Arora, was a Punjabi native to the Indian border town of Fazilka. Arora worked in the Merchant Navy.[4][5][6]
She completed her secondary education at Swami Vivekanand School in Chembur. Her aunt, Grace Polycarp, was the principal of the school. She is also an alumnus of the Holy Cross High School Thane where she studied until ninth grade. She completed her college education from Jai Hind CollegeChurchgate. She lived in Borla Society, Chembur opposite Basant Talkies before starting her modelling career.[7]

Malaika was selected as one of the MTV VJs when MTV India started its operations becoming an interviewer and later co-anchoring with Cyrus Broacha the programs Love Lineand Style Check.[8] Malaika then entered the modelling world, appearing in many advertisements, for album songs like "Gur Naal Ishq Mitha" and item numbers such as "Chaiyya Chaiyya" in the 1998 Bollywood film Dil Se...[8]
In the 2000s, apart from featuring in item numbers for various films, she made cameo appearances in a few films. In 2008, she appeared in her first major acting role in the film EMIwhich was a box-office failure.she is known for curvy figure and is worshiped by men all over india.
In 2010, she featured in the item song "Munni Badnaam Hui" in the film Dabangg, which was produced by her husband Arbaaz Khan.[9] On 12 March 2011, she helped set a world record with 1235 participants performing a choreographed dance to "Munni Badnaam" which she led.[10]
She was the Taiwan Excellence celebrity endorser in 2012.[11] She endorsed Dabur's 30-plus.[12] She states that she never wanted to do acting.[13] She performed live alongside Atif AslamShaan and Bipasha Basu in a series of concerts[14] at LG Arena in Birmingham[15] and The O2 Arena in London.
In 2014, she confirmed that she would make a cameo appearance in the Farah Khan-directed action comedy-drama film Happy New Year. The film released on 23 October 2014.[16]

Television

Malaika appeared on the television show Nach Baliye as one of the three judges.[2] The show was aired on STAR One in mid-2005. She continued as a judge in Nach Baliye 2 which started airing in the last quarter of 2006. In this show, she performed many item numbers as an example for the contestants. She appeared on the show Zara Nachke Dikha as a judge on Star One.[4] She was a judge on the show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2010.[17]
Malaika is on the judges panel in the show India's Got Talent.[18]

Malaika is married to Bollywood actor-director-producer Arbaaz Khan whom she met during a coffee ad shoot. Together they have a son, Arhaan, born on 9 November 2002.[19] Her sister is actress Amrita Arora, and her brothers-in-law are Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Bollywood actor-director-producer Sohail Khan. Her father-in-law is scriptwriter Salim Khan.[2]
