Shibani Dandekar is an Indian singer, actress, anchor and model.[1] She began her career working as a television anchor in American television. Following her return to India, she began hosting several shows in Hindi television and events, besides working as a model and a singer as well.

Shibani Dandekar was born as the eldest daughter into a Marathi-speaking chitpavan family .[2] She has two siblings, Anusha Dandekar, an actress-singer working in Bollywood, and Apeksha Dandekar.[3]Shibani along with her sisters formed a music band named D-Major.[4][5] Shibani grew up in Australia.[6] In 2001, she moved to New York, US and began working in American television.[7] She hosted three nationally syndicated television shows, Namaste America, V Desi and the Asian Variety Show.[8] In this role, she introduced Bollywood’s biggest stars to American audiences and also hosted An Evening With Shah Rukh Khan in Atlantic City. She has been a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa[9] , the India based "Dancing With the Stars" on the BBC network and hosted in India on Colors TV[10]
She returned to India and continued her work as a television host, while venturing into modelling as well. She was featured on the men's magazine GQ India and has appeared in a television advertisementalongside noted Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.[11] Apart from music and modeling, Shibani’s love for anchoring shows saw her as host for major events such as the Maxim Hot 100, Nike, Rolls Royce, Puma, Mercedes, Toyota, Horlicks, HSBC, Spice Mobile, JBL, MTV Coke Studio, Nivea and the Sony Launch of the tribute to Michael Jackson ‘This is It’. Popular shows Shibani has anchored include the lifestyle shows After Hours on Zee Cafe, Men 2.0 on AXN,[12] ZoOm's Let's Design,[13] India's Sexiest Bachelor on Big CBS Prime,[14] as well as its extension India's Glam Diva on Big CBS Love.[15][16]Shibani also anchored the Indian produced Grammy Nominees Special on VH1 as a lead-up to the 53rd Grammy Awards.[17] Since 2011, she has been co-hosting the show Extraa Innings - T20 on Sony Max Television during the Indian Premier League matches;[18] she won a nomination at the 11th Indian Television Academy Awards in the category Best Anchor Game/Quiz Show.[19] She is hosting the Mission cover shot for National Geography channel. And she even did a dance number Hi Poli Saajuk for 2014's biggest hit Marathi movie Timepass. She played the role 'Zoya' in the movie Roy_(film) which was released on February 13,2015[20]

Shibani virtually grew up on stage. Proficient in both Western & Indian styles of song & dance, this fiery performer learned the ropes of the industry whilst in the spotlight on Australia’s grandest stages, including the world renowned Sydney Opera House.
Shibani relocated to New York, where she quickly made a name for herself hosting 3 nationally syndicated TV shows – ‘Namaste America’, ‘V Desi’ & ‘AVS’ (Asian Variety Show). In this role, she introduced Bollywood’s biggest stars to American audiences and also hosted ‘An Evening With Shah Rukh Khan in Atlantic City’
Determined to share her rich, velvet toned vocals & fierce dance moves with the world, she moved to India to pursue a career in music with her two sisters. Together they formed the group DMAJOR. They went on to perform at various shows all over the country. They were the opening act on a 7 city tour for well known Bhangra act Stereo Nation and the DNA Style Awards. DMAJOR performed in Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and opened for Juggy D in Bangkok. They managed a coup of sorts by opening for Akon at the launch of the Kolkata Knightriders team during the IPL and had the opportunity to record a remixed version of ‘saara zamana’ for brand Jealous 21, a song made popular by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachan back in the 70’s.
Shibani’s smoldering looks graced GQ magazine, She became the face of 5 campaigns for Indian designer Payal Singhal, appeared in a Close Up ad and a Sunsilk commercial.
Apart from music and modeling, Shibani’s love for anchoring shows saw her as host for major events such as the Maxim Hot 100, Nike, Rolls Royce, Puma, Mercedes, Toyota, Horlicks, HSBC, Spice Mobile, JBL, MTV Coke Studio, Nivea and the Sony Launch of the tribute to Michael Jackson ‘This is It’. She appeared as the host on Zcafe After Hours for a short period and then anchored a lifestyle show for men titled Men 2.0 on AXN! Her ability to connect to audiences and her talent in front of the camera were quickly noticed thereby launching her as ‘Best TV anchor’ at the Indian Television Academy Awards. She subsequently hosted some of TV’s biggest shows – Vh1’s “Grammy Nominees Special 2011′ .Zoom Television’s ‘Let’s Design 3′, “India’s Sexiest Bachelor” for Big CBS Prime, “JK Tyre National Racing Championship” on ESPN/STAR SPORTS , “The GG Awards Red Carpet” for Star World and the most popular sporting event of the year – Extraa Innings T20 – for the Indian Premier League 2011!

Hot babes will burn the dance floor on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in its fifth season when the show goes on air this weekend.
Pretty faces of the small screen, TV anchors and Bollywood starlets are among the attractions that the reality dance show is touting, besides former Sri Lankan cricket captain Sanath Jayasuriya.
The show, a desi version that crosses the international hits Dancing with the Stars and Strictly Come Dancing, aims at highlighting the dancing skills of nondancer celebrities. The fifth season, however, is largely dominated by PYTs.

Renowned anchor Archana Vijaya, veejay Shibani Dandekar, Bollywood starlet Isha Sharvani, daily soap stars Pratyusha Banerjee (of Balika Vadhu fame) and Gia Manek (from the soap, Saath Nibhana Saathiya) are among the top glam draws.

Madhuri Dixit, film-maker Karan Johar and choreographer Remo D'Souza will judge the 13 contestants, the list of which also includes child star Darsheel Safary, ghazal singer Talat Aziz, comedian Bharti and TV actress Jayati Bhatia.
'The stress this season is more on international dance forms, besides regular Bollywood dancing that the show has every season.
Thus, these girls will try to swing the western way,' a source from the sets said.
In the past, the show has seen several non-dancing stars from the world of sports, besides chefs and film-makers.
However, this season, the stress seems to be more on glam girls. Barring Jayasuriya, the other big draws on the show belong to the showbiz industry.
'I have been an anchor for the past eight years and I wanted an image makeover.
'Being a dancer on this show would not only be glamorous but also a new experience,' Archana said.
Archana, along with other contestants, have been rehearsing over the past several weeks.
Isha, who has been in the news lately for her association with cricketer Zaheer Khan, is another glamorous face on the show.
A trained dancer, she is being touted as one of the favourites to win.
