Rashmi Desai (born Divya Desai) is an Indian television actress. She is best known for playing the role of Tapasya Thakur (Tappu) in the popular television soap opera, Uttaran on Colors. She has acted in many B grade movies before shifting to television. She has also acted in Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Manipuri and Bhojpuri movies. She has also bagged many accolades mostly for Uttaran.

Early life[edit]

Rashami was born in Nagaon, Assam, India to a Gujarati family. She is the only child of her parents. She did her schooling from Ulubari High School, Guwahati, Assam. Rashmi is also a trained Kathak and Bharatnatyamdancer.

Career[edit]

Rashami Desai who started her career at an early age, got her first break in Ravan on Zee TV followed by Meet Mila De Rabba on Sony TV and started acting in the show Uttaran on Colors on 20 June 2009. Later, in March 2012 she opted out of the show Uttaran as she didn't believe she could portray an older role after the leap.[1] On 7 November 2012, she has returned to Uttaran in positive shades.[2]
She has worked in other serials including Pari Hoon Main. She has also done episodes for Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Hai. She has featured in reality shows such as Comedy Circus, Maha Sangram, Zara Nachke Dikha, Crime Patrol, Big Money, Kitchen Champion Season 2, "Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala" and Jhalak Dikhhla ja.

Desai is married to her co-star from Uttaran, Nandish Sandhu, since 12 February 2012. They tied the knot in Dholpur.[3] In 2013, Rashami became pregnant but suffered from a miscarriage. Due to the miscarriage, problems started taking place in their lives. In 2014, Rashami and Nandish started staying separately due to some differences. However, resolving all differences, they came back together and apparently patched up.
In 2015, Rashmi again moved to Nandish's place and started staying with him.
She is a very active person and likes to take part in dance and reality TV shows and also participated on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5[4] which also aired on Colors TV. On the show she spoke about her miscarriage and other contestant felt that it was all done for sympathy.[5][6]
and recently Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (season 6).
She also appeared on Shekhar Suman hosted Movers and Shakers show.[7]

Biography
Rashmi Desai an Indian actress. She has acted in Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Manipuri and Bhojpuri movies. She has changed her name from Divya Desai to Rashmi Desai.

Her credits include the Assamese movie Kanyadaan, in which she appeared alongside Jatin Bora, and the Bhojpuri movie Kab Hoi Gauna Hammar, in which she appeared with Ravi Kishan.

Her Hindi debut, Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke, was a flop. In this movie she played Sheetal, alongside Raveena Tandon. She played 'Mandodari' in Zee TV serial "RAAVAN".

Rashami Desai did her schooling from Ulubari High School. Rashami is also a trained Kathak and Bharatnatyam dancer. She is happily married to her co-star, Nandish Sandhu, since 12 February 2012.
