MUMBAI: K K Singh (58), dialogue writer of films like 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili', 'Krantiveer' and 'Prem Rog', passed away in his sleep at his residence in Mumbai on Sunday. Singh started his career with Raj Kapoor's 'Prem Rog'. Producer-director Suneel Darshan, who worked with Singh on six films, said, "He was known for his commercial, punch-packed dialogue. Distributors would pick up films because his name was associated with them."
Singh wrote the dialogue for 24 films and worked with directors like Raj Khosla, Mehul Kumar, Rajiv Rai and Mahesh Manjrekar. Some of his other films include Mere Jeevan Saathi, Pitaah, Jaanwar, Kurukshetra, Tiranga, Talaash, Barsaat and Jaago, the last film based on a real-life incident of a mentally challenged child raped on a Mumbai local train. He recently wrote a Bhojpuri film, Aulad, for which he was paid Rs 11 lakh, the highest fee ever for a writer in that industry.
