Anita Raj is a former Bollywood actress who was popular in the 1980s.

Raj is the daughter of Jagdish Raj, a famous character actor in the Hindi film industry.

She married film director Arjun Hingorani and bid farewell to the industry.

Career
Anita began her Hindi film career with the love story Premgeet (1982) opposite Raj Babbar. She played a brain tumor victim in the film. The film was a runaway success and Anita became an overnight star. Thereafter Anita acted in several films in the 80s and early 1990s like Zameen Aasman (1983), Bheegi Palkein (1984), Ghulami (1985), Taqatwar (1989), Adharm (1992) and others.


She starred with actors like Raj Babbar, Sunjay Dutt, Shatrughan Sinha, Dharmendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Govinda and many other top actors of the 80s. Her last appearance was in Kaun Kare Kurbani (1992).

Anita Raj (born 13 August 1962) is a former Bollywood actress who was popular in the 1980s.[2] She had begun her Hindi film career with the love story Premgeet (1982) opposite Raj Babbar.[3] While shooting of film Karishma Kudrat Ka she and director Sunil Hingorani fell in love and got married in 1986.[4] Her father Jagdish Raj was a noted Hindi film actor.[5] She will be seen in Indian version of the US television program 24 along with Anil Kapoor.[citation needed]

The show also has Drashti Dhami in the lead role. About the character Anita said, "My role on the show is of Raaj Mata who is proud to be a ruler of the state. She wants her son, Rana ji to follow her footsteps and not be a weak person. On the other side, she is also being a protective mother by creating a safe aura for her son. The main reason for taking this show is my character. When I heard about it, I just couldn't refuse."

She also added, "I would like to go on the lines of Maharani Gaytri. Her poise, her looks and the way she used to move and get dressed is something what I want to bring in my character. Talking about my look on the show, I am really thankful that I have got excellent hairdresser and makeup person who make me look exactly like the maharanis of that era. We all sit together and discuss on various hairdos. Though the look has to be same but even on that, we try to do various experiments to make it look different in every episode."

Anita has signed her first film Acha Bura but that film got delayed. Later she signed Prem Geet which turned out to be her debut film opposite Raj Babbar. The film was a runaway success. The pretty actress Anita made a splash in the 1980's when she did a series of successful potboilers specially with Sanjay Dutt and Dharmendra. Some of her hits are Naukar Biwi Ka, Jeene Nahin Doonga, Iljaam. She has also done television with serials like Aashiqui, Eena Meena Deeka, 24 and many more.
