Music profile: The Sens

Creating Their own Brand

Sen-music profiles (17K)The Sens are unique in that they hail from rural Rajasthan and where their ancestors have been musicians and dancers for centuries.
This is truly a family that defines itself through music and music courses through their blood. Jamal Sen first made the for a into films scoring music for films like Daera and Shokhiyaan followed by his son Shambhu Sen who scored, among others, the evergreen Lata Mangeshkar number Sun man kemeet... And then there was Dilip Sen, Shambhu’ s brother, who, along with son Sameer formed the Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen duo. They hit bull’ s eye with films like Aaina and Yeh Dillagi among others.
It doesn’ t stop here. Sameer’ s younger brother, Lalit Sen,made a name for himself as a composer creating albums with various artists including Jagjit Singh, Falguni Pathak and Pankaj Udhas among others. He also creates theme pieces for different characters in soaps.
Sanjeev Sen, another brother, had his hands full assisting his brothers in their music. Today, Dilip, Sameer  Lalit and Sanjeev have joined hands to form a trio and go by the name of Sen Bros. Beginning with Sheesha (2005), the trio hopes for a memorable innings in cutthroat Bollywood.
The Sens, though talented, are not exactly the kind to woo the press in style. They have never made a big issue of internal differences but have simply patched them up privately and continued to make their music. Lalit is the most visible of all the Sns and continues to make distinctive music.

The Sen Bros plan to combine their phenomenal talent and give Bollywood their best. They plan to explore all genres and as is their usual style, work together to create the kind of music, fans yearn for. They are confident that with the kind of music they make, they will be able to caterto the notoriously changing tastes of Bollywood producers and fans of course. And to demonstrate that they are easy to work with, the trio point out that producers like Raj Kanwar< /span> , Mehul Kumar, Naresh Malhotra and others worked with them more than once
Not surprisingly, they confess that they would love to create music for period and historical films. Considering that they come from a family which has been into music for more than five centuries, they believe that they can do justice to such films. Are Bollywood producers listening to the Sen Bros.?
