Manish Paul (born 3 August, 1981) is an Indian television host, anchor and Bollywood actor who is a host of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa [3] Starting as a radio jockey and VJ, he moved to acting on television daily soaps, before taking up stand-up comedy and hosting television reality series.[4]He also danced as a group dancer with the song 'criminal' in the movie Ra.one.

Early life and background[edit]

Born in Delhi and brought up in a Punjabi family in Delhi, involved in financial business[2][5] Paul did his schooling from Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai New Delhi. After his schooling, he did his B.A. in Tourism from College of Vocational Studies, University of Delhi.[2]

Paul started his career in Delhi, as a host, compering cultural events in schools and colleges.[5] later he shifted to Mumbai,[6] where his first break was hosting Sunday Tango on Star Plus in 2002.[2] He also remained a VJ with Zee Music,[7] and a radio jockey with Radio City's morning drive time show, Kasakai Mumbai.

Acting career[edit]

Later he entered a channel Star One's Ghost Bana Dost to play the role of a ghost. Paul has acted in many serials like Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi on NDTV Imagine, Zindadil on ZeeNext, Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Haion Star One, Wheel Ghar Ghar Mein & Kahani Shuru with Love Guru on Zee TV, Kuchh Cook Hota Hai on 9X . However, finding it unsatisfying he quit daily soaps and was even out of work for eight months in 2008.[2][4]
Though he had appeared in cameo roles like in Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-starrer, Tees Maar Khan (2010),[8] Paul made his debut as a lead role of computer geek Mickey in Mickey Virus (2013).[9][10]

Television host and presenter[edit]

Subsequently, Paul started his career as television host and presenter, gained recognition after hosting, Saa Ree Gaa Maa Paa Chhote Ustaad, and later also appeared in stand-up comedy series, Comedy Circus.[8] He also hosted Dance India Dance Li'l Masters on Zee TV. He also participated in Star Ya Rockstar, a celebrity singing show on Zee TV and is currently co-hosting celebrity dance-reality competition, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (season 7) onColors TV,with Ranvir Shorey.[4]
In 2011, he won the Best Anchor award for Zee TV's Dance India Dance Li'l Masters.[11]
He has also hosted "Science of Stupid" on National Geographic.Over the year, Paul has also compered numerous television award shows.[11]

Personal life[edit]

He is married to Sanyukta Paul (m. 2007), who is Bengali. They met each other in their school, and started dating in 1998, soon their families knew each other, finally married in 2007.[7][12]

Biography: Manish Paul, the Indian television and film actor was born in the city of Delhi on the 3rd of August in the year 1981. He pursued his education from the prestigious Apeejay School situated in Sheikh Sarai New Delhi. He hails from a family having sufficient financial expertise.
He began his illustrious career as a radio jockey for Radio City’s morning drive time called Kasa Kai Mumbai. Soon after that, Manish enacted the role of a ghost in the television serial, ‘Ghost Bana Dost’ aired on Star One channel. Throughout the years he has appeared in numerous television serials such as ‘Kuchh Cook HotaHai’ on 9X, ‘KahaniShuru with Love Guru’ and ‘Wheel GharGhar Mein’ on Zee TV, ‘Ssshhh…Phir Koi Hai’ aired on Star One, ‘Zindadil’ on Zee Next, ‘Radhaa Ki BetiyaanKuchKarDikhayengi’ aired on NDTV Imagine and many more. Later on he gained a lot of recognition after he started hosting various dancing and singing based reality shows. He had even been a participant on the comedy based reality show aired on Sony TV called ‘Comedy Circus’. Apart from ‘Comedy Circus’, he had also participated in a celeb singing show called ‘Star a Rockstar’. He had hosted ‘Dance India Dance Li’l Masters’ aired on Zee TV and is presently hosting the sixth edition of the dance reality show, ‘JhalakDikhlaJa’.
Manish Paul will be playing a lead role on the silver screen this year with debutant director SaurabhVerma’s ‘Mickey Virus’ starring Nitish Pandey, Puja Gupta, VarunBadola, Manish Choudhury, Elli Avram and Manish himmself. This film is a comic thriller set in the city of Delhi and it revolves around the life of a Punjabi computer crazy person Mickey who sets out to plan a con of a big scale.This film is set to be released on the 13th of September, 2009. Previously he had played supporting roles in films like ‘Any Body Can Dance’, ‘MarutiMera Dost’ and ‘Tees Maar Khan’.
